Originally opened in 1964 to sell fireplaces to clients purchasing houses from sister company Barker Bros Builders, Downham Building Supply Co Ltd quickly expanded to sell all the items that a builder could require to build a complete house.
Now known as Barkers DBS and being run by the second generation of the Barker family the business is a successful, independent hardware and DIY store meeting the needs of both the professional builder and the home DIY enthusiast.
